Oh come on, organized noise IS music. I can't believe you typed that without realizing how pinheaded you sound. Look it up the the dictionary my friend.
This whole facking thread is a joke! Each and every individual argument against rap is a debacle at best! I mean honestly, apparantly because you don't enjoy a form of music that means it is not music at all! Not to mention the rediculous stereotyping and generalization of rap, citing one MTV "bling bling" rapper as the base for your entire argument against rap. Guess what, I know some rock songs that blow, does that mean rock as a whole blows?! This easily transfers to rap and discredits the laughable reasoning behind rap being any better or worse than any other form of music. I honestly must have missed when stereotypes started becoming acceptable arguments in a debate.

Gee, I am glad you have brought anything constructive into this thread.
Lets get one thing straight while we are at it... I am NOT a rap fan.

I prefer the classical genre myself, and personally (note, this is just me, I don't claim to be talking for "the people") I don't really understand the meaning behind Rap.
Sorry about the disclaimer and all
EDIT: The wonderous harmonies of violins and pianos played to their full potential...

maybe hes trying to shamelessly promote his band or a friends by SAYING that they made a song about guildwars even though they didn't.
p.s.
real music is made by dozens of instruments under one composer
the rest is just entertainment (no i do not listen to classical music )

Personally I don't see the big deal with Pink Floyd.
I mean I like his music and all, and I listen to it, but, cmon. Given the choice I'd much rather be listening to the Beatles, Styx, Led Zeppelin, or hell even The Cars (and that's something).
Maybe it's just not my style of music.
Just like Rap isn't my style of music. All the rap (and yes all) I've heard is about blinging it up in the hood and riding around scoping out the bitches and hos while screwing your grandma and killing your girlfriend.
But maybe that's like someone only listening to Bycicle Race (a very cool song might I add) and some of the more trippier stuff (Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds for teh win...pretty cool song actually.)
Though i can't really think of a 'bad' classic rock song. But I can name several bad rap songs. Funny that.
And if there IS such a thing as good Rap (though it is at this point a mere theory) then drop some 'band' (ha, band and rap, whatever) names down and we'll see.

Wow, I really don't understand all the hate against rap. Imagine this. that band that the original poster linked to, imagine that was the most played "rock" song on the radio/MTV.
Now, would you like it if the entire "rock" genre was judged by this single, bad band? No. "But that is a bad example of our music!" you would say. Well, too bad, because that bad band represents the entire genre. That is what is going on right now, but the opposite way.

First, rappers do not have bands. A rap "band" consists of some random guy on stage
Second, no rap is good, has been good, or will ever be good.... It's not that there is one bad rap "band", but that ALL are bad

First, I never said anything about there being rap "bands." Also, what does your first point have to do with anything?
Second, how can you say that? I'm sure you have NOT listened to every rapper and every rap song. Please stop judging an entire genre of music by a few bad examples

If there is going to be a music thread, then it has to mention Nine Inch Nails, Underworld, Meat Beat Manifesto, and... I'll throw in U2 to round it out. I've listened to NiN since high school, and I have to say there newest album has really impressed me... I've been listening to it regularly since it came out and only lately have I felt the need to change the CD on occassion. Underworld will always be my single favorite group ever, even though I hardly ever listen to them anymore... too many memories that happened with their songs as the soundtrack. Meat Beat Manifesto is one group that I consider the band that NiN started out as (but then turned into something else). And that's right, I said U2... they rock the house even if (and possibly because) they are older than most bands.

Few bad examples? Try at least 30, and most are ranked somewhere high on whatever crap music list they are on (most likely along with pop songs *shudders*).
It's not the actual person I have the problem with; it's the concept of rap. The concept is bad. And I quote here again:

This is honestly exasperating. Have you seen each and every single rap/hip hop artist (I happen to lump them together) that has ever graced god's green earth? No, and even if you did it is hardly your place to say who is good or bad these days what with music's nature being anything but impartial. Please, back up this smoking pile of crap you call an opinion with something or get out! The argument that consists of "Rap is bad, I hate rap, all rap sucks" is getting just a TAD bit redundant, which is a joke because it is a stupid statement to begin with. Nothing more, nothing less.

Actually, there was a thread on the WoW forums named "This band made a song about WoW". I am not sure that it was the same song / link,
but the responses were very similar (before the offtopic parts). Bad "band" screaming stuff ...
*problem is, the post is deleted now...
